After my first live stream Amish Quilt Show and Sale, we headed out in the RV with the family (Senna, Sagey and Katie Lu) for some down time. A great way to relax and perhaps hike a bit on my favorite trail, the Superior Hiking Trail along the northern shore of Minnesota and Lake Superior. Who knew we would be camped at the edge of a raging wildfire that threatened to outrun the work of teams of firefighters, including air drops of water taken from Lake Superior by the most incredibly skilled pilots swooping down, skimming the water and then lifting their plans to turn back over land and drop water on the burning trees and dry forests. The sense of community and co-ordinated team work caused me to reflect on my experiences with the Amish Community in the Driftless Area that we all reside. I spent a very long worrisome evening editing some video that tells a bit of the story of three of the most remarkable Amish Quilters and the resilience they possess to carry on, accept changes and survive in spite of the challenges of life.
