We set off from Parabel to the left tributary of the Ob, the Shudelka River. Ten years ago, local resident Andrei Mikheev stumbled upon a windmill standing amid the swamps and taiga. It turns out that hunters regularly encounter evidence of people once living along the Shudelka and its tributaries. But modern maps show the river basin as empty. Only the names of those who once lived here have been preserved: the Yurkovskoye Swamp, the Pafnutyeva River, and Lake Andreyevskoye. It turned out the Yurkovs were a family of Old Believers. Taisiya Andreeva was the elder of the women's monastery, which was called Andreevsky here. Pafnuty was a hermit monk... The TV2 expedition conducted a thorough investigation. They dug up lists of those repressed, studied NKVD cases against Old Believers, and found and recorded eyewitnesses who were now over 80 years old. It turned out that at the beginning of the last century, these areas were actively populated by Old Believers hiding from Soviet rule. For example, nuns from three Old Believer monasteries came here: Shamar, Miass from the Urals, and Tomsk. In 1933, the Old Believers were arrested, accused of counterrevolutionary insurgent activity. Exiles were brought to the cleared and settled areas. Thus, 12 villages were formed here, including Cossacks from Transbaikalia. Later, in 1938, many of them were retried and executed. The journey was complicated by the fact that the mill around it was overgrown with taiga and had practically collapsed. We only found it on our second attempt.
