🎵 A Tribute to Reverend Timothy Wright (June 17, 1947 – April 24, 2009) We honor the life, legacy, and music of one of gospel's most beloved voices — Reverend Timothy Wright. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Timothy Wright found his calling early, teaching himself piano at just 12 years old and pouring his gift into the choir of St. John's Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God. Through the 1960s and '70s, he played alongside gospel giants like Bishop F. D. Washington and Isaac Douglas before forming his own celebrated ensemble — the Timothy Wright Concert Choir — in the mid-1970s. As pastor of the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Wright spent decades lifting spirits through both his preaching and his prolific recordings. His 1994 album Come Thou Almighty King, recorded with the New York Fellowship Mass Choir, broke into Billboard's Top 20 Gospel Chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album — an honor he received again for his 1999 release Been There Done That. On July 4, 2008, tragedy struck when Reverend Wright was critically injured in a car accident that claimed the lives of his beloved wife, his grandson, and another driver.
