Iran war: Iranian officials call Trumps military threats 'desperate' | FOX 10 Phoenix

Officials from the United States, Iran, and mediator countries are chipping away at peace negotiations in Switzerland. Vice President JD Vance is in Switzerland joining negotiators from Iran and mediators from Pakistan and Qatar.  Top of mind for the negotiators is putting an end to the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, which Iran says has violated the first clause of the memorandum of understanding. Talks have reportedly paused, but Vance seemed optimistic despite Tehran claiming they shut down the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli attacks. The diplomatic push comes as President Trump threatened military action against Iran, while Iranian officials called his threats "desperate." President Trump told FOX News that the U.S. may take over the strait if they cannot reach an understanding. He also threatened on Truth Social to strike Iran.  Politicians remain split over the nearly four-month war. Waltz argued that "We need to give this process a chance. We need to give peace a chance," while Booker countered, "You know how bad this deal is. Iran gets all of the benefits, literally billions and billions of dollars, and America continues to hurt." Representatives from Israel and Lebanon are expected to meet in Washington for further talks.
