In Sickness and in Health: Denise's Long Comeback - Greg McQuade / WTVR (5/12/26)
In June of 2026 a Hanover County, Virginia woman is marking an anniversary she’d rather forget. In my “I Have a Story” I introduce you to the remarkable married mother of two who is overcoming the unthinkable. On June 5th, 2016 Denise Gorondy-Toderico was on her morning run near her home when she was hit from behind by a driver traveling 65 miles an hour. Denise was left for dead in a farmer’s field. The veterinarian suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken back, broken neck, collapsed lungs and several other injuries. Denise spent 40 days in the hospital. With help from her husband Ben, family and friends Denise is making a remarkable recovery. Denise strives every day to improve despite constant pain. Denise says ten years on she wants to be an inspiration to others.
