Northern Lights Tutorials

How I create my Northern Lights. Please be kind. Tutorials aren't in my wheelhouse and I only do them every so often. I am using quick dry oils. You can find them online on blick.com. Colors I am using are prussian blue, a medium green/blue like veridian green, light green, white, and paynes gray for the trees. The brushes are from Princeton brush. I use all the Oval mop brush sizes and the mini fan brush 20/0. You will want an oil medium to loosen your oils. There is lots of information about oil paint mediums online. Find the one that suits your needs best. Some extend the drying time, while others shorten it. This tutorial does not work well for other mediums like acrylics. Oils work because they stay wet longer.
