Livia and Octavia are two sisters who live with their mother, Suzana Nicoara, after their father died. The mother wants them to get married, but the girls don't seem so determined. Two young men come to the Nicoara house almost every day, potential suitors for the two daughters' hand. Emil Timus and Gratian Marcianu had been good friends since their student days, but the situation between them changed when Gratian introduced his girlfriend, Livia, to Emil. When Livia met Emil, she fell in love with him, breaking up with Gratian. On the other hand, Octavia fell in love with Gratian. If in the case of Livia and Emil the situation evolved favorably, things were not the same in the case of Octavia and Gratian. He still loved Livia, although he had promised her that they would remain just friends. At the same time, the relationship between him and Emil cools down, Gratian unable to accept that Livia left him for Emil.
