Comalle (Cicloturismo)

In this video, we cycle 16.4 km from the city of Curicó to the rural town of Comalle. This beautiful place, part of the commune of Teno, reveals its unique identity: large hills and green meadows with cattle and many horses grazing in the area, vineyards, and cherry trees preparing for harvest. The quality of the people makes you travel safely and want to learn even more about its history, for example, the beginnings of the construction of its church and some events that took place during Chile's independence. Houses with colonial touches still have some intact facades, while others are in poor condition, despite the passage of time. A bike ride that, despite some dangers due to the lack of bike paths connecting the town with neighboring communities, is not uncommon and happens all over Chile. However, the scenery is everything. Comalle, La Cruz, and El Guindo (and its waterfall) continue along a dirt road high in the hills to connect other towns and make you feel like you're living in paradise. (If you want to get here by bike, you can access a mini-supermarket and some grocery stores to stock up on food. You can pay with cash and debit cards. (I'm not sure if there's an ATM in town.) I didn't see any restaurants, except for a hot dog truck, which is very good!!) ....................................................................................................................................................... NOTES: In the video, from second 35 to minute 5:19, I spend a lot of time talking about cycling across the Rauco Bridge (an infrastructure that connects the two communes of Curicó and Rauco). However, cycling is so dangerous that, despite years of efforts, no resources have been allocated to improve cyclist safety by implementing a safe bike lane and pedestrian walkway. There are many cyclists and many times this dangerous bridge is used throughout the year, especially during the summer for sports. This criticism is intended to call on the authorities to address the issue with actions, not with paperwork for projects that are forgotten and unfulfilled promises. (The cycling capital should be named this way not only for those who cycle professionally but also for all of us who use this means of transport for our health or as a means of transportation to work.) In the video, from minute 16:37 to minute 17:13, I break the shifter (shift pin) again. This is the second time this has happened to me in a year (I don't recommend it for the same reason: poor durability and the gears inside are mostly plastic and tend to break easily). The brand is Sram and the model is NX 12-speed. Those who want to change or improve their shifters or shifter, if you opt for this brand, use GX onwards (more money, but more durability). : ...
