El dilema de los celulares -TikTok, Snapchat, y cómo proteger a sus hijos | DW Documental
Many children and teenagers spend hours immersed in Instagram or TikTok every day. Increasingly, families and schools are setting clear limits to counteract excessive screen time. Several studies link excessive smartphone use to depression, anxiety, and concentration problems. This report follows Swiss families and schools that are severely limiting children's and teenagers' screen time. Martin and Ursula Novotny, from the municipality of Sevelen in the canton of St. Gallen, are convinced that cell phones and social media have the potential for addiction, like alcohol and drugs. For this reason, they didn't give their children their own phones for a long time. The Lyceum Alpinum boarding school is also strict: during the day, all smart devices are locked away in drawers. Older students receive their phones at the end of the school day. Younger students only get them for two hours in the afternoons. The result: a marked reduction in distractions during class and more real conversations during breaks. How much screen time is healthy? And at what age does it make sense to have a smartphone? Child and adolescent psychotherapist Nady Mirian explains which rules actually have an effect on media use. The schools and families featured in the report aren't against new technologies, but they advocate for their responsible use. Is it still possible to have a childhood without cell phones today? Perhaps it's even a better childhood? #dwdocumentary #documentary #dwdocs #cellphones ______ DW Documentary brings you information beyond the headlines.
