"Our results suggest that inositol may be beneficial for depressed patients, especially those with PMDD. The main limitation of this report is that a small number of studies were included in this meta-analysis." Mukai, T., Kishi, T., Matsuda, Y., & Iwata, N. (2014). A meta-analysis of inositol for depression and anxiety disorders. Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical & Experimental, 29(1), 55–63. https://doi-org.ezproxy.uvu.edu/10.10... "Panic disorder. Palatnik et al.[32] examined inositol as compared to fluvoxamine in the treatment of patients with panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia). Twenty subjects completed the double-blind, controlled, random-order crossover study of 4 weeks of inositol up to 18 g/day and 4 weeks of fluvoxamine up to 150 mg/day. Frequency of panic attacks per week from baseline to endpoint decreased from 7.274 to 3.173 in the inositol group. Fluvoxamine treatment decreased weekly panic attacks from 5.874 at baseline to 3.474 at endpoint. The baseline difference in the frequency of panic attacks between treatment groups was not statistically significant and the inositol group was marginally more effective than fluvoxamine from baseline to endpoint for treating the number of panic attacks (P 5.049). The two treatments were considered equally effective at reducing Hamilton Anxiety scores, agoraphobia scores, and Clinical Global Impression of Severity (CGI-S) scores" Kinrys G, Coleman E, & Rothstein E.
