Walnut season, a fall delight, has arrived! The walnuts we pick up in the mountains are a far cry from the ones you see at the supermarket: a mushy mess. We pick up the nuts that have fallen to the ground, where the flesh has rotted and become mushy. Removing the flesh and washing them thoroughly is a real challenge. We don't use machines; we just hand-wash the dirt away. It's a mundane job, but with the geese getting in the way, it's a real challenge 😂 Seeing the cleaned-up walnuts makes me realize that winter is coming again this year.
