How Rucking Changed My Fitness

A year ago, I wasn’t interested in running. I was worried about my knees and just wanted to find a sustainable way to get fitter. That’s when I discovered rucking. Fast forward one year, and rucking has become part of my weekly routine. If I’m working from home, I’ll often throw 25kg on my back after lunch and head out for an hour. It’s no longer something I have to motivate myself to do, it’s just part of my life. The unexpected part? Rucking made me fit enough to enjoy running again. Now I use my local Saturday parkrun as a fitness test. Despite only running occasionally, I’m finishing near the front of the field and feeling stronger than I have in years. In this video I reflect on how much has changed over the last year, what rucking has taught me, and why I’m more motivated than ever for the year ahead. If you’re trying to build a healthier lifestyle, I hope this encourages you to find something you can stick with. Consistency beats perfection every time.
