Episode # 5434 THE LITTLE TEACHER Original airdate: 4-24-55 In this series, Loretta Young was never shy about bringing up subjects that were considered controversial at the time. In the case of this episode, it's child abuse! When a loving, but quick-tempered father, played by John Hudson, breaks his five-year-old daughter’s little finger in a rage he is forced to learn some valuable lessons. His wife (played by Loretta Young) takes their daughter (played by Mini Gibson) to the emergency hospital and soon he realizes how much he has been failing as a father and husband. In the end, the loving father and husband resolves to do something about his temper. John Hudson is best remembered for his roles in the films Gunfight at the OK Corral with film star Burt Lancaster and G.I. Blues where he appeared opposite Elvis Presley. He was the twin brother of late fellow film/TV actor William Hudson. He appeared in numerous television shows, in guest appearances, such as Dragnet 1967, 77 Sunset Strip, I Dream of Jeannie, Sea Hunt, Gunsmoke, and Adam-12. He died at age 77 on April 5, 1996 in Los Angeles, California. Mini Gibson plays the five-year-old Mindy. At only 18 months, she was a popular calendar model, posing with cute animals. By age two she was appearing in movies. During the 1950s and early 1960s she would appear in 34 movies and approximately 200 television episodes. Her last TV roles came as a teenage girlfriend in episodes of My Three Sons in the late 1960s. Her last film role was in "If He Hollers". In 1999 she testified before a California legislative panel on the need for statutory protection for child actors' earnings along with Paul Petersen, who played her older brother in Houseboat.
