বাগানবিলাস- বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম: Bougainvillea spectabilis ) গুল্মজাতীয় বৃক্ষের গণবিশেষ। গোলাপী,লাল, হলুদ বিভিন্ন রঙের অধিকারী এ ফুল গাছটির আদি নিবাস ব্রাজিল ও দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা মহাদেশ থেকে উৎপত্তি হয়েছে। মূলতঃ গৃহসজ্জ্বা কিংবা বাড়ীর চারপাশের সৌন্দর্য্য বৃদ্ধিতে লতাজাতীয় গুল্ম হিসেবে বাগানবিলাস জন্মানো হয়। শীত, বসন্ত এমনকি সারা বছর বাগানে শোভা পায় ফুলটি। তাই রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বৈজ্ঞানিক নামের সঙ্গে সঙ্গতি রেখে নামকরণ করেন বাগানবিলাস। বিবরণ- গাছগুলো ২০ থেকে ৩০ মিটার পর্যন্ত উচ্চতাবিশিষ্ট হয়। উষ্ণ আবহাওয়ায় বছরের অধিকাংশ সময় ফুলে সুশোভিত থাকে। এ প্রজাতির ফুলগুলো কাগজের ফুল নামে পরিচিত। পাতাগুলো বেগুনে, নীলচে, হলুদ অথবা গাঢ় লাল রঙের হয়ে থাকে। এক ইঞ্চি বা ততোধিক লম্বাকৃতির পাতা হয়। এক ধরনের বাগানবিলাস গাছ রয়েছে যারা সহায়ক গাছ কিংবা খুঁটিতে চড়ে কখনো কখনো একশত ফুট লম্বাও হতে পারে। কীট-পতঙ্গমুক্ত গাছ হিসেবে বাগানবিলাসের পরিচিতি রয়েছে। কখনো কখনো ক্ষতিকর পোকামাকড়, শামুক এবং গাছের উকুন হিসেবে পরিচিত এফিড কীট দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হতে পারে। কিছু লেপিডোপটেরা বর্গের হাইপারকোম্প স্ক্রিবোনিয়া প্রজাতির লার্ভা খাদ্য যোগানদানকারী বৃক্ষ হিসেবে বাগানবিলাসকে ব্যবহার করে। ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Scientific name: Bougainvillea spectabilis This flower plant with pink, red, yellow colors is native to Brazil and South America. The flowers of this species are known as paper flowers. The leaves are purple, bluish, yellow or dark red in color. Leaves are an inch or more long. There is a type of garden luxuriant that climbs on supporting trees or poles and can sometimes grow up to a hundred feet tall. Gardenia is known as a pest-free tree. Sometimes harmful insects, snails and aphid pests known as plant lice can be attacked.
