Training your Chihuahua to Stay! | Sweetie Pie Pets by Kelly Swift

One of the first things I work on is the “Stay” or “wait” command. This command requires your dog to watch and be attentive and could actually be a life saver, for instance if your Chihuahua is about to dart out after a ball, just telling them to “STAY” could prevent a terrible accident. I begin with a simple hand gesture and a voice command of STAY. You can say WAIT if you want. I don’t really find any difference between the two as long as you are consistent. The hand gesture keeps Mila in place when she’s close up to me.
