Mexicans crazy for 'Xin Xin', the world's oldest panda outside

Mexico City Zoo celebrated Xin Xin the panda’s 35th birthday on Sunday (June 29) with a special event featuring a traditional cake. Although Xin Xin’s official birthday falls on July 1, visitors lined up at the zoo to honor the long-lived panda, who is considered the only giant panda in Latin America, according to a Mexican government statement. The zoo noted that Xin Xin is one of the oldest giant pandas under human care anywhere in the world. Festivities included a traditional Chinese dragon dance organized by the Cultural Centre of China in Mexico. Xin Xin’s ancestors arrived in Mexico in 1975 as a gift from China to mark the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Her name means "hope". __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents. Nobody knows SHANGHAI better than us.
