Svalbard | Hike Near Longyearbyen

At the roof of the world, lays the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard, Spitsbergen or Spitzbergen: depending on where you live and thus how you call it. Here in the Netherlands, we call it Spitsbergen. While it appears to be close to the north pole, it is actually only halfway between the north pole and the northern coast of Norway. This means that the area is ice-free and snow free in the summer. This short video gives an impression on a hike near the town of Longyearbyen. Like any other hike outside the town of Longyearbyen, you need to do this hike with a armed guide. The hike itself took about 7 hours but we didn't stay long at the top due tot he high wind. But I suspect you want to stay there when the weather is good: the view is great!
