Two families, as different as night and day, swap mothers for ten days. First, there's 46-year-old Birgit, who lives in the countryside with her husband Wilfried and their three teenage daughters. Everything there is orderly and civilized. Quite unlike Panterra (35) from Berlin. In her Kreuzberg apartment, not only does her 17-year-old son Rocco live, but also his best friend Tim. The single mother takes life easy and wastes as little time as possible on housework. This is evident when the fastidious Birgit arrives at the Kreuzberg apartment for the first time and promptly bursts into tears. The bubbly Panterra, on the other hand, initially has a completely different problem with her host family: How is she supposed to survive the rural boredom? But instead of "La Dolce Vita" in the countryside, a tightly organized daily routine awaits Panterra: Cleaning, laundry, and shopping—but those are the easy tasks. For the Berlin-based socialite and teetotaler, attending Wilfried's weekly get-together with his friends, complete with beer and brass band music, proves to be a real challenge. Even standing in for Birgit, the organizer of the German Red Cross blood drive, takes considerable effort for Panterra. Donating blood is an absolute taboo for the woman of mixed Native American and North African heritage. She definitively forfeits her "Supermom" title when she attempts to cook Wilfried's favorite dish, trout. But competing with "Big Mama" Birgit when it comes to housework is practically impossible. She loves cleaning and cooking. Birgit's initial attempts to impress the Berlin guys with her culinary skills meet with little interest. Self-sufficiency and creative chaos reign supreme in their Kreuzberg apartment. The only person who appreciates Birgit's company is Tara. The old mixed-breed dog is Birgit's only friend when she's waiting for the guys to finally get up at noon, come home at night, or want something to eat. As a mom, she feels completely superfluous here. But meeting "Big Mama" Birgit's standards is practically impossible. After ten exciting days, the big showdown arrives: The women meet and speak frankly. Will there be praise or a barrage of criticism? How will the first reunion with their partners and children go?
