So today I have for you a look at three missions in Liquidation, a solo indie devs project which has a demo available during this Steam Next Fest. Besides the campaign you can try out the skirmish and multiplayer gameplay modes with three distinctive factions. Now I am well aware that most of you old school RTS fans judge any new singleplayer campaigns by your own experience, which if shaped by the grandeur of the titles like Warcraft III, Starcraft II or any number of C&C Games becomes an unattainable bar to clear for indie devs. Particularly for solo indie devs. But this one really tried his best, so please keep an open mind. Also, since I covered skirmish, multiplayer, unit and hero stats and other gameplay mechanics and features in my previous videos, linked up here and down in the description today I am focusing strictly on these campaign missions. The good, the bad, warts and all. What immediately set Liquidation’s campaign missions apart from most other indie games I have played recently are the high quality voiceovers, almost perfect scripting and mixing of cutscenes, character conversations and other narrative tools. There is no taking away of player’s controls when they are having a good time, no interruptions to fun army combat. In this first mission, which is preceded by a nicely made timeline chart filled with the game's lore, you get only two heroes and some units. The map turns out to be quite large, and filled with nooks and cranes worth exploring for the XP reward of dealing with different types of NPC mobs and items they occasionally drop. This is also how you locate some extra troops to increase your army size, and I hope you don’t have a spider phobia, because these things are nasty looking. #RTS#gameplay#Liquidation
