If this isn't due to weakness of will or stupidity, then tonight, we'll try to unravel this strange mystery, narrowing it down to three suspects. The first is "the price of hope." People perceive small probabilities as heavier than they actually are, buying several days' worth of dreams for a few hundred yen. And those dreams sell for a higher price the more difficult the situation is now. The second is "the tunnel of vision." Worry about money quietly robs one of mental capacity and living space, narrowing one's perspective to a single point in the night. The third is "the unreachable staircase." When the goal is at a height that can no longer be reached by steadily climbing the path, only a single, high-risk gamble makes sense. When three factors align, that seemingly unprofitable choice transforms into the most logical option for the individual. If so, perhaps the order is actually reversed.
