Liszt Sonetto No. 104 del Petrarca Horowitz Rec 1951
I find this 1951 Horowitz recording of the Liszt Sonetto No 104 del Petrarca preferable to his later live Moscow recital performance. Even though his 1986 performance contains many beautiful moments, this 1951 studio recording has clearer articulation, and a more strict attention to rhythmic details. Liszt had a rather laissez faier attitude concerning the playing of some of his compositions, so it hard to imagine which performance he would prefer.
