Nadie creyó peligroso al IA-58 Pucará: el azote de la infantería en 1982
Nobody thought the IA-58 Pucará was dangerous: the scourge of the infantry in 1982 The IA-58 Pucará was the only fighter jet designed and manufactured entirely in Argentina, and in 1982 it faced Great Britain in the Falklands War. Born at the Córdoba Military Aircraft Factory in the late 1960s, this turboprop attack aircraft was dismissed by NATO analysts before the South Atlantic conflict. But something didn't add up: if it was so "obsolete," why did the United Kingdom launch the riskiest commando operation against it since World War II? This is the story of the pilots of Attack Group 3, who took off from soggy grass runways, flew without radar under clouds a hundred meters above the ground, and faced Sea Harriers, the SAS, and Stinger missiles. One of those flights ended in the only Argentine air victory of the entire war… and in a mystery that took his family four years to solve. And when it was all over, the victors did something unexpected with this plane: they secretly took it to England. Music: Eyes of Glory - Aakash Gandhi, Duty Calls - Rod Kim.
