🇩🇪 Welches deutsche Zen-Kloster kannst du empfehlen? 🇯🇵
Q: The independent zazen group Rutenkai, which you founded before your time as abbot: I myself have been considering founding such a group for some time, whose sole purpose is to practice zazen regularly together. I would like to bring some fresh perspective to this topic and therefore omit the Eastern rituals, which may seem somewhat unsettling to young Europeans. I have the following question, which I couldn't find in the book: Did you found Rutenkai with your teacher's permission, or did you just do it? I've never been to a monastery myself and am therefore a little unsure whether I would even be authorized to use the term "zazen" instead of "meditation" if I were to lead such a group. It is very likely that someone who has no experience with sitting will ask how it is done. As soon as you start explaining, you automatically assume the role of a teacher. Can I just pretend to be a zazen teacher? I'd be interested in your opinion on that. Although I've never been to a Zen monastery myself, I definitely want to live in one for an indefinite period of time. In your new book, you describe daily monastic life at Antaiji in the form of a short handbook. What really excites me personally is the self-sufficient life in community. But you yourself say: "Anyone who wants to practice zazen doesn't need to go to Japan." I can follow that. But if you were in my shoes, what would you consider the European alternative to Antaiji?
