We are in Siem Reap, in northwestern Cambodia. The city has about 245,000 residents yet its main draw is the gateway to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Angkor Wat was the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. On our walking tour through this Cambodian resort town we start at the Sivatha Roundabout. Soon we head to the popular Pub Street which a touristy area with many restaurants and nightlife options. After exploring the city center also off the main streets we also get to the Old Market (Psar Chaa). Local souvenirs and food is offered in many parts of the town - also at the night market across the river. For a quieter atmosphere we walk through Wat Damnak - a notable Buddhist temple in Siem Reap. It was once a royal palace during the reign of King Sisowath. Today, it serves as a place of worship and community center. The temple grounds include a school, library - all surrounded with some serene gardens, making it a peaceful spot for locals and visitors. We head back to the center with all the street food stalls and markets around Pokambor Street. The street life gets busier after sunset thanks to cooler temperatures. After getting an evening impression of central Siem Reap we head back to our starting point, where we end our walking tour.
