I'm not a big fan of the cold, but Matsushima in winter is less crowded, and I enjoyed being able to relax and enjoy the scenery. It's a famous tourist spot, but when I actually went there, I felt it was a place that was "quiet," "calming," and "perfect for contemplation." I was able to spend my time in Matsushima comfortably, even alone.
