Mega Ship Surgery | How Engineers Stretched a Ferry by 30 Meters | FD Engineering Inside Airbus - World’s Most Complex Supply Chain: • Inside Airbus: World’s Most Complex Supply... The Peter Pan, a large car ferry, is about to undergo a remarkable transformation: it will be lengthened from 190 to 220 meters. To achieve this, engineers cut the ship in two and insert a 30-meter prefabricated section built at another shipyard, 200 kilometers away. The entire project must be completed in just 58 days. Time is critical. Even during the ferry’s final voyage to the German Dry Docks in Bremerhaven, sixty workers begin preparations for the conversion. The engineers face a challenge: to meet the specifications of the shipping company TT-Line, they use a cutting method that has never been applied in this way before. Difficulties appear early on, when the two massive halves of the ship—each weighing several thousand tons—do not separate as planned because some steel beams are still connected. Other hurdles soon follow. The ship can only be moved when the dock is flooded, meaning areas like the engine room must be carefully sealed to protect sensitive systems. Meanwhile, the new mid-section has to arrive in Bremerhaven on time and fit precisely between the two halves. With the first passengers already booked on the renewed Peter Pan, everything must come together smoothly and on schedule. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary - Engineering Channel for free: https://bit.ly/FDEngineering ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #maintenance ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ “Engineering: the branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building and use of engines, machines and structures.” So says the Webster definition.
