Real Talk with Anele Season 3 Episode 27 - The Soil & Reach for a dream
The Soil is a South African acapella Group founded in Soweto. The group was first formed in 2003 when high school friends used to get together for jam sessions performing under the name; ‘Particles of the Soil. They started out as a 25-member group that over the years got whittled down to 4 members by 2010. After their debut album, member Samkelo Mdolomba (who had been involved in the recording process for the debut album) left the group due to contractual disputes and creative differences. Their self titled debut album; The Soil reached platinum status selling over 50 000 copies and they followed that up with two more album releases. The Soil have also performed at international events including festivals, garnered awards as well as having worked with the likes of Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
