God speaks in many ways. Sometimes He does so in the silence of prayer, other times through a person, a difficulty, an invitation to serve, a call to forgive, or a new door that opens. Each of these situations can be an opportunity for grace. We often ask God to change our lives, but when He presents us with the opportunity to do so, fear, comfort, or a lack of faith prevent us from taking the step. We want miracles, but we forget that many times a miracle begins with an act of trust and obedience. In the Gospel, we see how Jesus went around calling ordinary people: fishermen, tax collectors, and sinners. They had to decide whether to let that opportunity pass or to respond to the call. Those who said “yes” were never the same again. God continues to offer opportunities every day: the opportunity to reconcile, to start over, to draw closer to the Eucharist, to go to confession, to love more, to serve generously, and to grow in faith. The question is not whether God gives us opportunities; The real question is whether we are willing to take advantage of them. Don't let the opportunity God is placing before you today pass you by. Perhaps that pending conversation, that moment of prayer, that act of charity, or that decision to return to Him will be the beginning of a completely transformed life.
