But this time, the case has shocked everyone because the person accused is not a gangster—he is a Delhi Police head constable whose duty was to uphold the law and protect citizens. Delhi Police has arrested its own Head Constable Pawan Kumar alias Makki, posted in the Reserve Battalion, over allegations that he worked with the notorious Tillu Tajpuria Gang to extort money from businessmen. According to investigators, he played a key role in threatening victims and helping keep the gang's extortion network active. The silver lining is that Delhi Police acted against its own officer after receiving the complaint and has now launched a wider investigation into the entire network. The arrest comes at a time when the Tillu Tajpuria Gang has once again been under the scanner after carrying out two major attacks this year on people linked to the rival Gogi Gang. Following those incidents, Delhi Police and other agencies intensified surveillance on the gang's activities. The involvement of a serving police officer has made the case even more alarming. According to police, on June 27, 2026, a businessman filed a complaint alleging that he and his family were being threatened and asked to pay ₹2 crore as protection money. Investigators examined CCTV footage, digital records, mobile data, and other technical evidence. Based on the findings, Head Constable Pawan Kumar was arrested. According to the FIR, the dispute began in December 2025 when the businessman's partner purchased a 3,200-square-yard plot near Khatu Shyam Temple on GT Karnal Road. Police say Pawan Kumar had arranged a ₹50 lakh loan for the land deal. Although the businessman later repaid the entire amount along with interest, the dispute allegedly started after the property's value rose to nearly ₹7 crore. The complainant alleged that Pawan Kumar later claimed the loan money belonged to gangster Himmat alias Cheeki. He allegedly demanded ₹2 crore from the estimated ₹3 crore profit expected from the land deal, claiming it was the gang's share. He also allegedly warned that if the money was not paid, an additional ₹2 lakh per day would be charged. The businessman further alleged that on June 1, Pawan Kumar arrived at his residence with five armed associates. When the businessman was not home, the accused allegedly threatened his wife and children with serious consequences. On June 5, Pawan Kumar allegedly returned with his face covered. Later, on June 16, another man visited the house and allegedly connected the businessman over a mobile phone with jailed gang member Jitender, who again pressured him to pay the extortion amount. Fearing for his family's safety, the businessman reportedly left Delhi for some time. The investigation also revealed that the extortion money was allegedly intended to finance the legal expenses of jailed gang member Amit alias Dabang, lodged in Tihar Jail, and to support fugitive gangster Himmat alias Cheeki, who is believed to be operating from abroad. Police are now tracing the financial trail behind the alleged racket. Sources say Pawan Kumar is also facing an extortion case in Sonipat, Haryana. Investigators are examining his bank accounts, mobile phones, financial transactions, and suspected links with criminal associates to determine whether more people were involved in the network. The case has raised serious questions because the allegations are not against an ordinary criminal but against a serving police officer entrusted with enforcing the law. If the allegations are proven, it would represent a serious breach of public trust. At the same time, Delhi Police's decision to arrest its own officer sends a strong message that no one is above the law. The investigation is continuing, and authorities are now trying to determine whether other individuals were also involved in the alleged police-gang nexus.
