I Was a Park Ranger in Alaska and Something Was Watching Us From the Trees

I served the Alaska backcountry for over twenty years. I learned every trail, every stream, every migration pattern. I believed I understood the wilderness completely. Then the reports started coming in. Prints that were bipedal and far too large. Hikers who could not explain what they had seen. A body arranged with a purpose no accident could produce. Rangers who requested transfer and would not say why. This is my full account of what happened in the Seward region and later in the western sector of the Tongass near Ketchikan. It includes the night I heard controlled breathing beside me in total silence, the thermal footage of something that reached up and turned my camera away, and the afternoon a shape stepped out beside the trail and simply looked at me until it decided I was not worth taking.
