Welcome to Chumphon Buri, the hometown of my good Thai friends back in Texas. For years, I always told them that if I ever made it to Thailand, I would go visit their village. I didn’t get the chance during my first trip, so when I returned to Thailand this time, it was one of the first things I wanted to do. What I didn’t realize is that this part of Surin Province is known for elephants, and they were everywhere. I even found one right in the middle of the neighborhood. This turned into one of those special travel experiences that you can never really plan for. I stayed with a local family, ate incredible home-cooked Isan food, visited Elephant World, and got a small glimpse into daily life in a Thai village. Thank you to everyone in Chumphon Buri for the kindness, hospitality, and warm welcome.
