Leyes de la Rotación de Pastos Voisin - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel
Twitter @juangangel When grass and legume associations are present, it is necessary to maintain a good balance between the species. This improves the quality of the forage produced and increases animal production. To achieve this, it is necessary to lengthen rest periods so that the grasses become less palatable to livestock, which consume more legumes. Their proportion is reduced by shortening the rest period so that animals consume more grasses. To comply with all of the above, the four laws that are part of the Voisin grazing rotation system must be kept in mind. Voisin rational grazing is an intensive grazing system based on four laws initially proposed by its creator and inspiration, the physiologist André Voisin, in 1963, but refined over time thanks to the intervention of professionals such as Edgardo Vanoni, Guillermo Lebrón, and Luiz Pinheiro, among others. This is a system that maximizes meat and milk production through rational and sustainable pasture management. To achieve this, Voisin studied work conducted on five continents and, at his farm "Le Talou" in Normandy, France, conducted studies and measurements on the growth and behavior of his own pastures. This system is based on four fundamental laws applicable in any country, climate, pasture, and farm. These laws can be summarized as follows: 1. Between two grazings of the same pasture, there must be a period of time that allows the plant to recover its leaf area and accumulate reserves for regrowth. 2. The time a pasture is occupied must not allow the area grazed on the first day to be regrazed before rotating the pasture animals. 3. Animals with higher nutritional requirements should be the first to graze the regrowth pasture. 4. The shorter the time a pasture is occupied, the greater the grazing herd's production will be. The first law tells us that for a pasture to be productive, it must have a rest period between grazing sessions. This allows the pasture to store reserves in its roots and develop rapidly to produce the greatest amount of green mass per unit area. Source: http://jairoserrano.com/2009/02/pasto...
