Driving in Tibetan Areas: Through the Stunning Heishui River Valley | 4K
Our self-driving journey starts in Naizigou Village, Heishui County, Sichuan, China. This 28.9km route runs west to east along G347 National Highway to Dagu Glacier Hotel, taking about 40 minutes at a casual pace, with an elevation of 2400–2700m. The entire route is a smooth two-lane asphalt road with gentle curves and no tricky terrain, perfect for family cars and motorcycle touring. The first 10km takes us into the heart of Naizigou Colorful Forest — the crown jewel of western Sichuan’s autumn scenery. Meaning “beautiful and fertile” in Tibetan, this is the core of Asia’s largest natural colorful forest belt: a vast, ticket-free open scenic area. Under the crisp autumn sky, the highway winds along the Heishui River Valley, flanked by a layered forest of larch, birch, maple and fir. Sunlight filters through the canopy, casting dappled light across the road, and free viewing platforms let you pull over anytime to take in the breathtaking autumn views. The middle 10km is the cultural heart of the route, linking two untouched Gyalrong Tibetan villages. First is Qicai Jiazu Tibetan Village, with vibrantly painted traditional Tibetan homes adorned with cultural totems, contrasting beautifully with the surrounding forest. Next is Yangrong Hade Tibetan Village, meaning “the land where the gods reside” in Tibetan. Tucked between mountains and the river, this stone-wood Tibetan village features a white pagoda, fluttering prayer flags and authentic local life, perfectly blended with the autumn mountain landscape. The final 8.9km wraps up the trip, leading us to the gateway of Dagu Glacier. We end our journey at Dagu Glacier Hotel, right next to the glacier scenic area — the perfect finish to a western Sichuan drive that blends stunning natural scenery with authentic Tibetan culture. #ChinaStreetView #DrivingTourChina #ImmersiveDriving #4KDriving #TibetanAreasDrive #WesternSichuanScenery #HeishuiCounty #GyalrongTibetanVillages
