Standing transfer for person with ALS/MND
A demonstration of how my husband Chris who had ALS/MND was able to complete a standing transfer with minimal assistance. One of the most important aspects of this was that I would carefully set each step in place and confirm with him that he was ready for the next step. Of course he did eventually lose the ability to stand at all, but using this strategy with the assistance of our wonderful OT who would help us adjust as he declined, we were able to continue standing transfers for far longer than I would have thought we could.
