Whoever wants the golden garden shovel this time has to build a herb bench out of Euro pallets! Erika Martin and Silke Kempe-Russ are taking on this challenge in the ARD Garden Challenge. They have two hours to demonstrate their creativity with three Euro pallets and various herbs. Who will win? The Task Erika and Silke have two hours to build a bench out of used Euro pallets and then plant it with herbs. We will provide them with the necessary materials: three Euro pallets, 10 screws, four planter inserts for the pallets, potted plant substrate, quartz sand, and various herbs. The Implementation To ensure the construction goes smoothly, both candidates will receive the same instructions (source: Home not Shelter / Hans Sauer Foundation). We also told them in advance what tools they will need. How they approach the implementation is up to them. We won't reveal at this point whether Silke and Erika will manage it within the allotted time and who will win the duel. We'll give you a tip if you want to recreate the bench: To create the bench seat, you need to saw a pallet between the third and fourth boards. Unfortunately, the instructions don't specify exactly where to do this. Since the wider part of the pallet will become the seat, simply saw flush with the third board.
