Based on a highly professional finishing touch they get right to the bottom of the relation between individual significance and the interwovenness of chamber music. In the process, they generate a joy of playing and a profound expression, which entrances the listener. This kind of communicative willingness and the ability to listen to one another allows the ensemble to articulate their music virtually “una voce”. The result is a tonal and musical depth effect that lights up the saxophone’s whole range of colours. The ensemble’s main interest lies in the exploration of the classical original literature as well as in advancing the genre’s development with modern and commissioned works, thus placing new impulses for the world of chamber music. In March 2013, their first CD “Arcis Saxophone Quartet plays Enjott Schneider” was released at “Ambiente Audio”. In coorporation with the well-known German film composer and professor for film music Enjott Schneider, they recorded his complete works for saxophone. The year 2013 was characterized by important international accomplishments: The quartet was awarded first prizes at “Musikwettbewerb des Kulturkreises Gasteig e.V.” (Germany; supplementary audience award), at the international music competition “Concorso Argento” (Italy), at the First Classical Music International Internet-Festival “Chance Music” (Russia) and won third prize at the “13th International Chieri Music Competition” (Italy) and second prize at “Kammermusikwettbewerb der Alice-Samter-Stiftung” in 2014 (Germany) . The ensemble was formed in 2009 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Since 2013, the members are studying the masters programme for chamber music in the Artemis Quartet’s class at the UdK Berlin, while additionally receiving lessons by Koryun Asatryan and Prof. Friedemann Berger in Munich. Since 2014 the quartet is member of the European Chamber Music Acadamy (ECMA). They are obtaining support from Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now and from the PE-sponsorships for music students. Big and exciting projects are waiting for the likeable ensemble in 2015. And as they continue working tirelessly, their goal of taking the world’s stages by storm comes ever-closer.
