UPITN 18/02/80 LEFTIST AND CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATS MARCHES IN SAN SLAVADOR, MILITARY TRAINING AND FUNERA

(18 Feb 1980) Women supporting the left-wing movement in El Salvador stage a march through the country's capital city. Workers belonging to the in BPR (Bloque Popular Revolucionario, Popular Revolutionary Block) take to the streets and eventually the market area. Another march is organised by the Christian Democrats (PDC). At the presidency building, the current leaders of the ruling junta take applause from the crowd including Jaime Abdul Gutiérrez Avendano. Junta leader Jose Napoleon Duarte addresses the protestors from the ground. El Salvadorians pick cotton. Salvador troops take some military training in using machine guns in the hills whilst back in San Salvador a funeral procession takes place.
