Gay Byrne theme RTE Radio 1
How many of you came here because you heard this on the Sky tv comedy Moone Boy? The reason it was used is because the tune is deeply ingrained in the national psyche of Ireland. It was played daily as the theme to Gay Byrne's mid-morning RTÉ radio show. Some of the images in the accompanying video show 'Gaybo' when he presented The Late Late Show on RTE television. He is, within Ireland, the country's best known broadcaster. The music is Tico's Tune, and was only ever available as the B side to a single, issued in 1965. The performer is Manuel and the Music of the Mountains, aka Geoff Love.
