On June 15, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., according to current information, a car transporter crashed into a Seat at the end of a traffic jam on the A4 motorway between the Cologne-West interchange and the Klettenberg exit. The Seat was pushed under the rear of a semi-trailer truck ahead, where it was severely deformed. The 22-year-old female driver from Bonn was fatally injured and her injuries remain unidentified. The 39-year-old driver of the car transporter sustained critical injuries and was trapped. He was freed by the fire department and transported by ambulance to a level 1 trauma center. The 37-year-old semi-trailer truck driver was uninjured. The police dispatched the traffic accident investigation team and are diverting traffic at the interchange. The Olpe-bound lanes will remain closed until approximately 3:00 a.m. for the completion of rescue, recovery, and accident investigation operations. This route could not be used as an alternative due to the closure of the Bonn North Bridge. The following units were likely deployed: the OV- and BVA 2 (local fire engine and rescue vehicle), the fire engine, the rescue vehicle, the emergency physician's vehicle, ambulances 1 and 2 from Fire Station 2, the roll-off container for rescue equipment, four radio/security vehicles, and the accident investigation team.
