The Ugly Duckling Song

He didn't look like the others. He didn't look like the others. He didn't look like he belonged. Nobody there seemed to know that he was a beautiful swan. The mother took her ducklings to the water. Other ducks were staring at him. They said the one duckling was ugly. But my how he could swim! Each day that passed, the worse it got. The animals teased the ugly one. They pushed and shoved, calling out to him. They never seemed to tire of making fun. ‘Cause he didn't look like the others. (the others) He didn't look like he belonged. Nobody there seemed to know that he was a beautiful swan. At last our friend could stand no more. He decided to run away. He wanted to find a fun, safe place where he could swim and play. He came to a swamp where some wild ducks lived. He chose this for his home Until one day a hunter came, he knew again that he must roam. And he didn’t look like the others. He didn’t look like he belonged. Nobody there seemed to know that he was a beautiful swan. Everywhere our friend would go, The story would seem the same. Never welcome anywhere, it really was a shame. Until one day when he was grown, something strange occurred. Oh, whose reflection could that be? Who was that beautiful bird? Well, he didn’t look like the others. He had grown so big and strong. Everybody finally knew that he was a beautiful swan. Try not to judge by how someone looks. Find out what’s within. A lovely swan may live inside. The beauty’s beneath our skin. If you treat others by how they look, That’s not being too smart. Oh, look inside to find their worth. What’s important is in the heart.
