Damascus is preparing to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron for the first visit by a European Union leader to Syria since its liberation, ahead of the NATO summit in Turkey. The visit is expected to address several political, economic, and security issues, most notably strengthening bilateral relations, supporting reconstruction efforts, and expanding cooperation in the energy and transportation sectors. Discussions will also cover regional developments, including the situation in Lebanon, Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, and cooperation in combating terrorism.
