These cancellations give rise to a new registration, but since there is no physical record, they interrupt the chain that allows tracing owners and titles, ultimately altering the way the system was conceived and creating a conflict between the registry history and actual possession. The academics also address the problem from the perspective of actions that defend ownership, the unenforceability against third parties, and how this interacts with actions of demarcation and enclosure.
