【猛暑】救急隊員のコンビニ利用認める「市民の方にはご理解を」福岡市消防局
The intense heat continues day after day, and this heat is leading to an increase in ambulance dispatches. With some paramedics unable to get sufficient rest, the Fukuoka City Fire Department has allowed paramedics on duty to use convenience stores. Read the article for this video https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fbs/category... The number of ambulance dispatches for the Fukuoka City Fire Department is on the rise, reaching a record high in 2024. Dispatches are particularly high in July, when temperatures rise, with over 9,000 dispatches in July alone in 2025. ■Kanta Shirano, Reporter "This is a convenience store parking lot. An ambulance is parked there." This ambulance is not parked there for emergency medical services. ■ Paramedic "I'm thirsty, so I'll buy a sports drink." Until now, the Fukuoka City Fire Department had not allowed paramedics on duty in ambulances to use convenience stores. Therefore, paramedics would take breaks at the hospital or fire station where they were transporting patients. However, with the increase in consecutive dispatches, there were times when they couldn't take a break for more than five hours. ■ Fukuoka City Fire Department Paramedic, Daisuke Nogami "When we're on consecutive dispatches, we sometimes run out of water in our water bottles, so until now we had to return to the fire station. Being able to use convenience stores is a huge relief for us." With the convenience store use permitted from July 10th, the rules are that the ambulance will display a sign indicating that it is stopping for a break, and one of the crew members will remain inside the vehicle to be ready for emergency contact. ■Fukuoka City Fire Department, Fire Chief Shinichi Kakimoto "We hope that citizens will understand that we are on standby, preparing for the next dispatch." The Fukuoka City Fire Department believes that the increase in dispatches is due to an increase in non-urgent 119 calls, and is urging people to consult "#7119" if they are unsure whether to call an ambulance. *Broadcast on FBS Fukuoka Broadcasting's Mentai Wide on July 10, 2026, shortly after 5 PM For the latest news, please visit https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fbs.
