Calpe is a lively coastal town in Alicante. Incredible beaches of fine sand and crystal-clear waters, coves, the famous Peñon de Ifach, the Salt Flats with their pink flamingos, and excellent cuisine, along with other attractions, make Calpe a paradise for many tourists and visitors. For two days, I visited Calpe and enjoyed all of the above. An interesting trip where I took several routes. Calpe is 23 kilometers from the famous and also touristy Benidorm, 63 km from Alicante, 120 km from Valencia, and 460 km from Madrid. The highlight of Calpe is the Peñon de Ifach, a true symbol of the town. The 332-meter-high rock is visible from any point in Calpe and its surroundings. Climbing the Peñon is an incredible experience. The views from the entire route are spectacular. There are many restaurants where you can eat well and at a good price, both in the Old Town and in the Port. If you're traveling with children, you'll love the Calpe Salt Flats Route. It's easy to do, takes about an hour, and covers flat terrain. Birds can be found in the lagoon year-round, including the striking flamingos. Another interesting route is the "Benissa Ecological Walk," a route that departs from Calpe and takes you through beautiful coves in the Benissa area. Calpe's Old Town is small and charming.
