"Expiation" is a short story by E. F. Benson, first published in Hutchinson’s Magazine in November 1923. The narrative follows two friends renting a holiday home near the Cornish coast. The house and garden are beautiful, but the men soon realise something is amiss in their Cornish retreat. They hear strange noises, see unusual sights, and ultimately discover the dark secret hidden within their seemingly idyllic holiday location. This version is read by Chris Halton.
