Escape from Surgery? TUS Preferences Shaping the Future of the Healthcare System The Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) is not just an exam; it also provides important clues about the future of the healthcare system in Turkey. In recent years, the decrease in interest in surgical branches and the fact that some quotas remain unfilled is noteworthy. This situation leads to a re-discussion of many issues, from doctors' working conditions to their career plans. In this interview, we discussed the changes in the healthcare system through TUS preferences with Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Erkek. We examined which branches young doctors are turning to, the reasons for the decline in preferences in surgical fields, and how this situation may affect patient care in the future. We also evaluated whether TUS results are not only a reflection of individual preferences but also of structural problems in the healthcare system.
