On June 10, 2026, a black suitcase with wheels, hidden in a closet in a house in Nezahualcóyotl, revealed the dismembered remains of a 55-year-old woman who had been missing since April 25 in the Venustiano Carranza borough. Her 21-year-old son has been in custody since May 7. But the suitcase is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of questions that remain unanswered: Why was that particular house—the victim's legal property—chosen to hide the body? Who else knew that the property existed and was empty? Did he act alone, or did someone help him move and hide the body? Why did the Mexico City Attorney General's Office take 45 days to investigate an address that, according to its own media coverage of the case, it had known from the very beginning?
