"Welcome to our daily encounter with the Word of God! Today, the readings invite us to reflect on God's faithfulness amidst crises and on where we place the true treasure of our lives. In the First Reading (2 Kings 11:1-4, 9-18, 20), we see how God preserves the royal lineage of David despite the threats and violence that seemed to triumph. In the Gospel of Matthew (6:19-23), Jesus teaches us not to accumulate treasures on earth, but to seek the eternal treasures of the Kingdom of God. Together, these readings reveal that, even when evil seems to prevail, God continues to guide history and call his children to live with their eyes fixed on what truly has eternal value. Gospel (Matthew 6:19-23): In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructs his disciples not to accumulate treasures on earth, where everything is fleeting and subject to corruption. Instead, we are invited to accumulate treasures in heaven through a life devoted to God. The Lord also teaches that "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also," revealing that our priorities determine the direction of our spiritual life. In speaking of the light of the eyes, Jesus calls us to cultivate a vision... Pure, capable of seeing reality in the light of the Kingdom of God. When our hearts are oriented towards the Lord, our whole life is illuminated.
