I’m Matt Goldin and here what’s happening around Beaufort County Today: -Beaufort County Executive Committee will hold a special meeting today at 4:00 PM at the County Council Chambers located at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort. The meeting will appear here in full on BC TV and be simulcast at    / @beaufortcountytv   A groundbreaking ceremony will be held this morning at 10 am at the Buckwalter Recreation Center located at 905 Buckwalter Parkway in Bluffton. Beaufort County Parks and Recreation will create the first artificial turf fields maintained by Beaufort county, four new multi-use fields with lighting. The 14.6 million dollar investment at the Buckwalter Recreation Athletic Complex will further utilize the 140-acre property on Buckwalter Parkway, a choice destination for recreators across the County. Today, Tuesday June 30th, the Always Sunny Chap from Philadelphia, inventor of the Lightning rod and the glass harmonica Benjamin Franklin will start his day at 9am with Donuts at the Liberty Oak Tree in Harbor Town located at 147 Lighthouse Road on Hilton Head Island. The 10 dollar Harbor Town gate fee allows a carful to attend the complimentary confectionary event where those attending will meet one of America’s Founding Fathers. -After wiping the powdered sugar from his face, Franklin will attend Tea, Coffee and Conversation at 10:30am at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Hilton Head Island Campus located at 1 Sand Shark Drive on Hilton Head Island for a first-person program exploring Franklin's life, ideas, and legacy through scholarship, storytelling, and audience interaction. Tickets are 30 dollars. -Once caffeinated, at 3pm Franklin will grace the Hilton Head Island Branch Library located at 11 Beach City Road on Hilton Head Island for Conversations with Ben. Through a lively and interactive presentation, an historical interpreter brings one of America’s most fascinating Founding Fathers to life, sharing stories, wit, and insights from the early days of our nation. Finally, at 5:30pm, the tireless Franklin will join Tide Pointe for Beverages with Ben, a private event. Benjamin Franklin’s full schedule and a link to RSVP can be found at beaufort250.com forward slash ben dash Franklin. -This Wednesday, July 1st, the writer of Poor Richard’s Almanac and our minister to France Benjamin Franklin will be North of The Broad River, starting his day with an invitation only event at 8am at Blackstone’s café in Beaufort called Beaufort Breakfast Club, where the First American will tell patrons “Don’t you forget about me.” -Following his petit dejeuner at Blackstone’s, Franklin will visit the Beaufort Branch Library located 311 Scott Street in Beaufort at 10am for a free to attend lively and interactive presentation sharing stories, wit, and insights from the early days of our nation. -At 12pm, Franklin will share lunch with the Sons of the American Revolution in an invitation only event. -At 2pm, Franklin will visit the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park located at 700 Bay Street in Beaufort to Put Down the Roots of Liberty with the City of Beaufort, Historic Beaufort Foundation, the Beaufort County 250th Committee. The dedication ceremony includes the planting of a scion of the historic Liberty Tree Sapling. The event is free for everyone. -At 4pm at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Performing Arts located at 805 Cartaret Street in Beaufort Franklin will come alive for his signature the event, Ben Franklin Comes Alive. In the free to attend performance, GregRobin Smith appears in character, speaking in the first person as Franklin. Blending historical scholarship, storytelling, wit, and audience interaction, the program explores Franklin's life and ideas, including his pivotal role in the American Revolution as a statesman, diplomat to France, and advocate for independence. . Finally, Franklin will participate in a Dialog Across Centuries at 615pm in the St. Helena Anglican Church located at 507 Newcastle Street in Beaufort. Tickets are 40 dollars.
