Leon Kass: The Ten Commandments
Leon Kass is A. C. Harding Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago and the Roger Hertog Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. He graduated from the University of Chicago (1958), took an M.D. (Chicago, 1962) and a PhD in biochemistry from Harvard (1967). He taught Great Books in the Chicago common core program, and he headed the President’s Council on Bioethics (2002-07). His books include Toward A More Natural Science: Biology and Human Affairs (1985), The Hungry Soul: Eating and the Perfecting of Our Nature (1994), The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis(2003), and What So Proudly We Hail: The American Soul in Story, Speech, and Song (with Amy Kass and Diana Schaub, 2013). Presented by the Program on Constitutional Government on April 8, 2106.
